Family-owned company now with pipeline construction competence team
WEIBERN, February 2023. At the 35th Rohrleitungsforum (Pipeline Forum) from March 30 to 31 in Oldenburg, Augel GmbH from Weibern presents itself as a full-service provider for solutions in sensitive industrial areas. From uncovering the pipeline to removing the coating, welding work on the pipes, reapplying a protective coating and restoring the surface. With their new pipeline construction team, Augel's specialists can now handle all phases of a civil engineering project from start to finish. The advantage for customers, who are mainly established pipeline operators from all over Germany, is that they now have a single point of contact for the entire construction process, as the company emphasizes.
In 2019, Managing Director Rolf Scharmann decided to establish pipeline construction as the final pillar of the complete civil engineering process in-house with a team of specialists. In 2020, the DVGW GW 301 G1 W1, the highest approval level of the German Gas and Water Industry Association, was already achieved for pipeline construction in both areas. In the meantime, the company has built up a team of experts of around ten employees and has successfully completed several projects for various pipeline operators with almost 100 percent accuracy. The Augel team has carried out demanding welding work on low-alloy fine-grained steel and stainless steel pipelines.
For TIG welding (tungsten inert gas / process 141), manual metal arc welding (manual metal arc welding / process 111) and combined techniques, the welders in the Augel pipeline construction team have successfully passed all the required process tests. Since this winter, the company has also been authorised for various stud welding processes with tip ignition. Further procedure qualifications are currently in preparation.
‘We are proud to now be able to offer comprehensive solutions in the safety sector with the Pipeline Construction team,’ explains Hans-Jürgen Georg, Quality Manager Welding Technology, who leads the new team at Augel GmbH together with André Besse, Head of Pipeline Construction, and welding engineer Harald Klein, Project Manager Pipeline Maintenance. With our comprehensive portfolio of solutions, our expertise in the field of highly sensitive systems and our numerous experts in the safety sector, we are able to significantly accelerate construction processes in sensitive areas," he summarises.
The Oldenburger Rohrleitungsforum (Oldenburg Pipeline Forum), a congress and trade exhibition organised by the Institute for Pipeline Construction at Oldenburg University of Applied Sciences (IRO), is a recognised training event on current topics relating to underground pipeline construction. Around 3,000 trade visitors are expected in Oldenburg again this year. Augel GmbH will be presenting its innovations at stand no. F1.18 on the open-air site.
