Digitalisation is a major topic of our time. We are also facing this challenge in the construction industry. The requirements on a construction site are constantly changing. Due to the geometries and tolerances required on construction sites today, the construction of excavation pits has become an increasingly complex task. By realising different height levels, these are much more demanding than before and so we as a construction company are required to manage our construction sites more efficiently, more quickly and, above all, more safely.

The 3D machine control system has its strengths precisely in dealing with these special requirements. It allows the surveying engineer to record the entire geometry of the excavation pit on the PC in advance using a digital terrain model and feed it into the excavator. This minimises the amount of stake-out work on site. This means that work on site can be carried out efficiently and reliably without interruptions due to lost stakeout points.

Another decisive advantage is, above all, the high precision of the work carried out by our machine operators. By constantly checking the position and height, errors can be minimised on site, which saves us time-consuming and cost-intensive reprofiling. The flexibility that the system gives us also plays an important role here. Our drivers can create both simple and more complex terrain models of excavation pits directly on the control unit on site, without having to call on the help of a surveyor.

The 3D machine control solution supports our operators with the help of digital terrain models and satellite positioning systems. The exact position of the bucket and excavator is displayed to our operators on the control unit in real time. When comparing the current target and actual position of the excavator bucket, the device provides precise guidance specifications and allows our machine operator to navigate his excavator bucket precisely along a digital terrain model.  Information on excavation or removal is shown to the machine operator directly on the display and enables him to carry out the excavation work quickly and precisely according to the specified terrain model.

Another decisive advantage is that the excavator control system increases the efficiency of excavation work.  We can now create construction pits with significant time savings. It is no longer necessary for the surveying engineer to carry out time-consuming stakeout work in advance and the system saves us the surveying work that accompanies construction.

This ensures better machine utilisation, higher productivity and more comfortable working conditions for our drivers, while at the same time increasing safety, which is important to us. Occupational safety on our construction site is very important to us! If our machine operators can see the exact height and slope in the cabin, they no longer need an additional employee in the danger zone of the trench and bucket.

Sustainable construction technology is a high priority at Augel. Augel has a special responsibility in sensitive industrial areas and works more digitally, more effectively and, above all, more safely thanks to 3D machine control.
