Semi-rigid overlays combine the flexibility and joint-free nature of asphalt with the high load-bearing capacity and greater wear resistance of concrete. They consist of a high-cavity asphalt supporting framework and a special modified filling mortar, which is placed in the cavities of the asphalt supporting framework in the second working pass. The individual components of the asphalt supporting structure and mortar are produced independently of each other and only when combined do they form the semi-rigid surface course. In this way, a monolithic body is created by filling an open-pored asphalt with a flowing mortar.

Semi-rigid overlays are used as wearing courses on surfaces subject to particularly high stresses, such as container parking areas, storage areas in front of signal installations or bus traffic areas. In compliance with the relevant laws and regulations, they can also be used for pavements in the vicinity of refuelling facilities and storage and handling areas for water-polluting substances.

AUGEL IS CERTIFIED TO INSTALL SEMI-RIGID OVERLAYS ACCORDING TO WHG.

Among other things, the Gütegemeinschaft Halbstarre Deckschichten e.V. has awarded Augel the protected "Halbstarre Deckschichten" quality mark based on its testing.
